Police investigate murder of unidentified man at East Driefontein

Authorities are appealing for information after a man was found shot dead in Phomolong Village near Carletonville.

The police in Carletonville are still trying to determine the circumstances that led to the murder of an unknown man this week.

Police were called to Limpopo Street at Phomolong Village at East Driefontein at about 19:30 on June 11.
Upon arriving at the scene, they found the body of a mine worker lying on his back. The man had been shot in the chest and had already passed away.

No empty cartridges were found at the scene, and it was not clear who the victim was, or whether he had been involved in illegal mining.

Anyone with more information is urged to contact the police in Carletonville.
