The Police in Carletonville arrested an 18-year-old man this week after finding him in possession of a dangerous weapon near a local school.

Officers were patrolling the area around Wonderfontein High School on June 12, as part of an ongoing initiative to curb violence in local schools.

While driving past the back of the school premises, the patrol spotted a group of youngsters smoking on an open ground.

The officers stopped to search the group and discovered a large panga hidden under the teenager’s clothes.

He was immediately taken to the Carletonville Police Station and charged with possession of a dangerous weapon.
