A spirit of generosity and community care was warmly felt at SAVF Fochville Retirement Village on August 5 when members of Round Table Carletonville 50 visited the facility with a valuable donation for its older residents.

The donation included microwaves, air fryers, kettles, toasters, cutlery and crockery.

These much-needed items will be used to upgrade the kitchens of the four Abby communal homes on the premises. Each home provides residents with private accommodation as well as shared kitchen, dining, lounge and leisure spaces where they can enjoy companionship and supported social interaction.
The contribution comes at an important time, as SAVF Fochville Retirement Village continues to improve its accommodation and communal facilities.

Reliable kitchen appliances and sufficient utensils may appear ordinary, but they make a meaningful difference to residents’ daily comfort, independence and quality of life.

The donation was made possible through OFM’s Big Cover Up campaign, held on June3 in partnership with Round Table Southern Africa.

During the on-air fundraiser, OFM listeners and businesses contributed funds to support non-profit organisations serving vulnerable children and older persons across Central South Africa. Regional Round Table branches help ensure that the support reaches organisations and communities where it is needed.

SAVF Fochville Retirement Village extends its sincere gratitude to every OFM listener and business that contributed to the campaign; to OFM for using its platform to unite communities around a worthy cause; to Round Table Southern Africa for its partnership and co-ordination; and to Round Table Carletonville 50 for selecting, purchasing and personally delivering items that will have a lasting practical impact.

A special word of thanks is extended to Round Table Carletonville 50 chairman Desmond Erasmus and members Shaun van der Merwe, Riaan Greyling, Dean Bezuidenhout, Bradley Hall and JP Marais. Their visit reflected more than generosity – it demonstrated compassion, partnership and a genuine commitment to the wellbeing of older members of the community.

SAVF Fochville Retirement Village is deeply encouraged by this goodwill. Initiatives such as the Big Cover Up show what can be achieved when individuals, businesses, the media and community organisations work together.
