East Driefontein resident dies during house robbery
Three armed suspects allegedly tied up residents before a 60-year-old man died during the robbery.
A resident of the area died during the course of a house robbery this week.
This crime took place in Limpopo Street at Mpomolong Village at East Driefontein on August 27.
As far as could be determined, the resident (60) wanted to go to town at about 08:40. As he was leaving the house, three unknown men grabbed him.
One of the thugs, who spoke isiZulu, was armed.
They forced the resident back into his house and instructed him and two other residents inside to lie down. The attackers then tied their hands and feet with shoelaces and placed a plastic bag over the resident’s head.
They then searched his bedroom.
Police suspect that the resident died of suffocation. They also suspect the thugs targeted him because he was about to go on pension.
