Stolen vehicle recovered in Greenspark at Fochville
The action shows how the community can help to fight crime.
Vigilance by the community and members of the Fochville CPF ensured that a stolen car was tracked down in Greenspark.
Damian Wichtmann, spokesperson for the Fochville CPF, reported that residents shared details through communication groups about a vehicle left unattended in the Greenspark area for a long time on August 31. Fochville CPF members and the SAPS were notified and proceeded to the location to investigate the vehicle, a Ford Figo.
Upon arrival, the vehicle’s information was checked against the relevant databases. The checks confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen.
The scene was immediately secured and barricaded to protect the site and stop unauthorised entry. The police took over responsibility for the vehicle and the ongoing investigation.
“We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Greenspark community for remaining vigilant and reporting the suspicious vehicle. Your co-operation and willingness to report suspicious activity played an important role in the successful recovery of the stolen vehicle. Community involvement and co-operation with the Fochville CPF and SAPS are essential in helping to keep our neighbourhoods safe,” says Wichtmann.
