The big football trial that would have taken place at Carleton Jones High School this weekend has been postponed.

According to the organiser, Sam Ndlovu of the OweSam United club in Carletonville, the scout from France that was supposed to lead the trial, Toufik Khirat, had to fly to the United States unexpectedly on September 16.

Because of this, the trial has been postponed for November 7 and 8.

“OweSam United was established with a clear vision to identify and develop children from a very young age and create a pathway towards professional football and ultimately the PSL. We want to develop young players technically, tactically, physically and mentally while teaching them discipline, respect, teamwork and responsibility. Our ambition is to build a strong youth development structure where a child can start at OweSam, progress through the age groups, gain competitive experience and exposure, and eventually earn opportunities with professional clubs. We are not only building football teams, we are building a pathway from grassroots football to the PSL. Our dream is to see young players from Carletonville and surrounding communities grow through OweSam and one day represent professional clubs and the highest level of South African football,” Ndlovu says.
