A Heritage day commemoration took place on September 17 at Rotara Special School in
Carletonville.

According to the Principal Mr Naresh Hansraj the school is multicultural staff, learners as well as SGB and the event was a reflection of the diversity in the school.

During Heritage month the school wanted to create a special celebration and there were learners from all phases who performed for the day as they will be going home for school holidays.

“I loved it as it was one of the most amazing experience to see the learners so happy,’’ he expressed. There was also cultural items on display, clothing and traditional food during the day as well as different performances from Khutsong Youth Club and Vibration Taylor as well as other various acts.

He also mentioned that in the near future the school will be moving to a bigger building as they are looking to accommodate more learners as they are currently accommodating 161 where 48 learners reside at the school hostels mixing boys and girls from far areas.

“Our learners are academically challenged but excel in other activities such as sports, arts and culture including singing, dancing and drawing where they have won awards,’’ he further expressed.

Recently they performed at the Carletonville Festival on the October 14 they will be going
to perform at the Randfontein Arts and Culture Association. The school can contacted on Facebook
