Fochville SAPS and CPF bring birthday joy

The birthday boy is currently in a place of safety.

Over the weekend, the police in Fochville and the Fochville Community Policing Forum (CPF) came together to make a very special birthday celebration possible for a young boy at Ubuntu, a House of Safety in Kokosi.

The group made a surprise visit to the boy after he mentioned his dream to have a birthday celebration during a visit in July. It was the first time the child, who turned nine, celebrated his birthday.

The SAPS and CPF donated cakes, cupcakes, sweets, chips, toiletries and sanitary towels to the facility. The boy also received a special birthday gift, while one of the police members also donated nine boys’ bedding sets.

The founder of Unbuntu, Mrs Emma Kgampe, thanked everyone for hosting such a beautiful birthday party.

“For us, it was about more than just a birthday. It was about showing a child that he is seen, valued and cared for. A simple celebration, a birthday cake and a few thoughtful gestures created smiles and memories that will hopefully stay with him for a long time. This is what community policing is also about building relationships, showing compassion and making a positive difference in the lives of the people we serve. A special thank you to everyone from SAPS, CPF and the community who contributed their time, support and resources to make this day possible. Together, we can make a difference, one child, one family and one community at a time. Happy birthday, young man! May your special day be filled with happiness, laughter and hope for the year ahead!” says the communication officer of the Fochville CPF, Damian Wichtmann.
