Hijackers strike near East Driefontein

The hijacking took place on the P111 road.

Two colleagues were victims of a hijacking while travelling in their employer’s single-cab Toyota Hilux bakkie near Carletonville.

The 25-year-old driver and his colleague were on the P111 road on October 19 when the incident unfolded.

As the driver approached the turn-off to East Driefontein at approximately 09:30, he noticed a white Nissan Impendulo minibus following closely behind. The driver of the minibus signalled for him to pull over.

The man driving the minibus was wearing a marked police bulletproof vest and instructed the driver to walk back with him to the Nissan.

Upon reaching the vehicle, three other men suddenly jumped out.

The suspects assaulted both employees and forced them inside the minibus.

The hijackers then drove away with the captives before eventually releasing them unharmed in Doornkop, Soweto.
