A Carletonville resident had a harrowing experience this week.

This crime took place on October 19.

The resident (36) and his friend (41) were about to leave a home in Banfield Street in his silver Honda Ballade at approximately 19:30.

They suddenly saw a white vehicle stopping at the neighbour’s house. Three unknown thugs jumped out of this car and ran up to them.

The men, who had firearms, forced the two friends into their vehicle’s back seat. They then drove with them towards the N12, where they left the friend and the car on the side of the road.

They sped off with the resident and later called his family to ask for a ransom.

The police are investigating kidnapping, extortion and carjacking cases.
