Young Blyvoor player excels on the rugby field
No-one else in his family has ever played rugby.
Sibonikaliso Dlamini is a rising rugby star who recently made it into a provincial teams.
This talented rugby player is a learner from Laerskool Blyvooruitsig.
Dlamini was chosen for the provincial Golden Lions rugby squad during the past season.
“This is the first time since our school started with rugby in the 1990s that a player made it through to the provincial squad,” says his proud coach, Rudie Smal.
According to Smit, the 14-year-old youngster who is now in grade seven is passionate about the sport.
“He always comes and asks me for the ball to play after school,” says Smal.
“Yes, I just love rugby,” the shy young star who is the only one in his family to have played the sport, agreed.
Dlamini is already building on his achievements as he was recently again chosen for the Far West Rand rugby team as well.
Rugby has taken him to various places where he has never been before, such as Volksrust and Middelburg in Mpumalanga.
He has also played in Potchefstroom and Klerksdorp.
Driven by his love for the sport, Dlamini is still unsure about which high school he will attend next year to further his education, but he remains determined to make a mark in the rugby world.
