Johannesburg Skydiving Club excels at Lilizela once again

The Johannesburg Skydiving Club (JSC) in Carletonville again showed that it has what it takes to draw tourists.

The Johannesburg Skydiving Club (JSC) in Carletonville again showed that it has what it takes to draw tourists.
The JSC represented Merafong and the West Rand during the provincial Lilizela tourism awards that were held
in Johannesburg on 29 September.
During the event at Gold Reef City, the cream of the crop of businesses and organisations involved in tourism in
one way or another competed in various categories.
“For the second time in a row, the JSC walked off with the trophy for the best Visitor Experience Action and Adventure,” the club’s chairman, Eugene (Pottie) Potgieter told the Herald this week.
Potgieter added that the club will now compete in the national finals, which will take place at the SandtonConvention Centre on 16 October.
“I am very proud of the hard work that our club’s members have put in to make this happen as well as their fantastic team spirit. Many people in Carletonville do not realise that the JSC draws about 100 visitors to Carletonville
every weekend,” says Potgieter.
He added that, in addition to skydivers from other towns, the current exchange rate draws many  international visitors, especially for tandem jumps but also for training. Although many of these foreign skydivers come from
India and other African countries, visitors from countries such as England and Norway also regularly visit Carletonville to skydive at the JSC.
The JSC came second in last year’s national Lilizela Awards, where the club was only beaten by Tsitsikamma
Canopy Tours from the Cape Garden Route.
