A local graphic designer is encouraging aspiring artists to believe in themselves and never look down. Sizwe Thula, the 23-year-old visual artist was born and raised in Khutsong. His passion for art started in primary school when he used to draw cartoons. He says Bysizwe, a well-known cartoon artist, was his biggest inspiration. As he grew up, he realised that he could make a living out of art and started taking it seriously. He later discovered graphic apps like Pic Mix and made them work for him as a graphic designer. Sizwe dreams of having his own graphic design company and making a name for himself. ‘Other people’s work, especially local graphic designers’, inspires me,’ he says.
