Two women have been killed and twelve other injured this morning when a light motor vehicle and taxi collided on the Pineridge Road in Witbank, Mpumalanga. ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at approximately 06h20 this morning. Upon closer inspection, Paramedics found the taxi and light motor vehicle on opposite sides of the road. The side of the taxi had been ripped open while the front of the light motor vehicle had been completely smashed in. Paramedics assessed the patients on scene and found the body of a woman lying inside the light motor vehicle. Unfortunately, the woman had already succumbed to her multiple, fatal injuries. Nothing more could be done for the patient and she was declared dead on the scene. Another patient, a woman, was found lying in the taxi in a critical condition. Paramedics carefully extricated the woman and provided her with several, advanced life support intervention. Unfortunately, after a few short minutes, the woman succumbed to her injuries and was later declared dead on the scene. 12 other patients were found spread around the scene. Paramedics assessed the patients and found that they had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. The patients were treated for their injuries and thereafter transported to various hospital in Witbank for further treatment. The road was closed for some time due to the collision. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
