CJ’s rugby season kicks off

Carleton Jones High School’s rugby league season got off the ground with a mixed bag of results on 21 April.

According to a teacher from the school, Mr Deon Cloete, CJ played their first league matches of the new season against Hoërskool Die Adelaar Hoërskool in Roodepoort on Saturday, 21 April.
The local school’s u.15 team won their match with a score of 10–5. After a close match, the u.16 team, unfortunately, lost with a score of 12–10.
‘The first team’s match was undoubtedly the match of the day. Both teams measured up well against each other and the two intercepted tries by Die Adelaar made the difference between the two teams,’ says Cloete.
The final score was 31–14 in Die Adelaar’s favour.
‘We are positive about this year’s rugby season. Three of our u.16 players have been chosen for the Lions countryside team. Three of our u.18 players have also been selected for this team,’ Cloete announced.
