Swimmers show their skill at Sun City

A group of swimmers from the Carletonville Swimming Club took part in a large swim at Sun City over the weekend.

The Dis-Chem Sun City Swim is the ultimate in open-water swimming events in South Africa and kicked off with a splash on Saturday, 20 October.
This year, the event attracted more than 3000 entries, 800 of whom only registered the same morning.
Distances on the day were the 3000 m and 1500 m swimming competitions for serious swimmers. There was also a 600 m fun swim that was all about having a splashing good time. The use of swimming equipment like pool noodles and fins were allowed in this event.
Several swimmers from Carletonville competed in the 1500 m swim. For many of them, it was their first swim of the season.
These stars were Divan Grove (24:52 min), Caitlin Doran (26:36 min), Kealeboga Khoza (32:57 min), Rameez Mabanga (33:14 min), Luyanda Mbadamana (36:52 min), Aaliya Mabanga (39:44 min) and Olerato Maphangela (44:26 min). It was Olerato’s first 1500 m swim.
