Yesterday (9 January) afternoon, several areas around Potchefstroom experienced flash floods due to the heavy rainfall.

Around 16:00, heavy showers began to pour down, which resulted in the N12, other roads, and streets being flooded and slowed down traffic. The N12 was open this morning (10 January) again.

In December last year, the N12 was also partly flooded due to heavy rains. A Mesoyclone also swept through Potchefstroom early in the new year.
