The Khutsong police station got a new station commissioner, and numerous other police members were promoted during a function lastweek.
According to Sergeant Kgomotso Mogwere of the West Rand police, the West Rand District commissioner Major-General Fred Kekana congratulated members who were promoted to different ranks on Tuesday, 8 November. The session took place as part of the District Crime Combating Forum at the Krugersdorp SAPS.
The biggest promotion in our area was that of Lt-Colonel Ockie Brits, who was promoted to the rank of colonel. He is also the new station commander of the Khutsong SAPS.
Meanwhile, eight more senior officers were promoted from the rank of captain to lieutenant colonel, 19 warrant officers were promoted to the rank of captain, and two sergeants were promoted to warrant officers.
Other non-uniformed staff were also promoted.
“The newly-promoted officers will enhance community service delivery and crime-combating efforts in different police stations and units within the West Rand District,” says Mogwere. “Congratulations to all who were promoted! All of us can make a difference. Therefore, all of you must go the extra mile where you work. Double the effort and make a difference in ensuring that this district is safe and we are the best. Ensure that you are a good representative of the SAPS, to yourself, your family and the community,” said Kekana.
