Authorities made a startling discovery during a special operation in Blyvoor recently.

Members of the police and visiting members of the SANDF raided Blyvooruitzicht in search of illegal miners and illicit mining activities on 12 February.

While searching, the members received information that someone had hidden a large amount of cash in a yard in Skoonplaas. The authorities followed up the information and found the money buried in the yard.
A total of R1.15 million was found in a buried cooler box.

They also recovered three illegal firearms from the ceiling of the old church at the entrance to Skoonplaas.
