Most Merafong Schools improve
Although none of the schools in our area obtained a 100 per cent pass rate, the matrics of most schools improved on the results of their predecessors.
Several schools performed better than last year, and none scored below 50 per cent.
Hoërskool Fochville regained its position as the best performer in the area for the first time in three years with a pass rate of 97.43 per cent. This is much better than last year’s 94.8 per cent. Carletonville High School has a pass rate of 91.71 per cent, slightly lower than last year’s 93.6 per cent, while Carleton Jones High School has a pass rate of 89.36 per cent. This school was the best performer last year when the matrics had a pass rate of 98.1 per cent. Wonderfontein High School, one of only two technical schools in the area, has a pass rate of 81.51 per cent, almost the same as last year. The matrics from Imfundo Secondary School held Kokosi’s name high with a pass rate of 89.47 per cent, much higher than the 75.5 per cent the school’s learners obtained last year.
Letsatsing Secondary School has a pass rate of 77.91 per cent, slightly lower than last year’s 78.9 per cent. Tswasongu Secondary School has a pass rate of 79.71per cent, up from 75.1 per cent.
Thuto-Kitso Comprehensive School’s matrics also did well, with a pass rate of 77.07 per cent, up from last year’s 73.8 per cent.
Badirile Secondary School’s pass rate climbed to 65.72 per cent from 58.6 per cent the previous year, while Relebogile Secondary School has a pass rate of 63.42 per cent, up from last year’s 60.7 per cent.
Wedela Technical High School has a pass rate of 58.89 per cent, up from 55.1 per cent last year.
A total of 56.45 per cent of Fochville Secondary School’s learners passed their matric examinations.
Just outside Merafong’s boundaries, Glenharvie Combined School’s matrics achieved a pass rate of 85.4 per cent.
