GALLERY: Tree of wonder

Beautiful Christmas melodies could be heard, and as darkness fell, the Christmas spirit could be felt throughout the shopping centre.

THE lights on the Christmas tree at Mall of the South were switched on at a ceremony on December 9, with Ward 23 councillor Sarah Wissler doing the honours.

“Welcome to you all at this festive time of the year. Enjoy a merry time with your family and friends and stay safe on the roads if you are travelling,” said Wissler.

As the Christmas tree in the Platinum Court lit up, children had the chance to have their faces painted and were entertained by festive characters and balloon sculptors.

Miss Joburg South 2019 winner Michelle Moolman and four-year-old Maunuella Pillay (Kids of the South 2019 winner) were at the ceremony along with the children from St Mary’s Children’s Home.

Simply 4 entertained the adults with beautiful Christmas melodies, and as darkness fell, the Christmas spirit could be felt throughout the shopping centre.
