GALLERY: Generosity of community knows no limits
“Companies like the Sanitizing and Disinfecting Technologies offered us free services to sanitise the area where we will be handing out to the people.”
With the ever-increasing demand for food parcels, the generosity of Ward 23 residents has been something to take note of.
So much so that the distribution and packing area for the feeding scheme had to move to a larger area.
Councillor Sarah Wissler told the CHRONICLE that things have been going very well when it comes to donations towards food parcels to give families, orphaned and vulnerable children.
“We had to move to a bigger space because the one we worked in was very small. With the kindness of our people we are now based at the Glenvista Country Club who allowed us to use their space.”
Wissler made it clear that the project is not politically affiliated to any party and that it is just a community project they formed to make a huge impact on the communities and a difference in the lives of those in need.
“The vulnerable communities we work with are no different. The pandemic has made them even more vulnerable by creating even more unemployment. The few community members who were employed are not working during the lockdown.
“This means loss of income and the ability to provide the basics for their families. Therefore, our focus is now to minimise the impact of Covid-19 through food parcels, handing out clothes and sanitisers.
“However, we still need the help of the community with donations of food parcels and hand sanitisers. Every bit makes a difference,” she said.
She extended her thanks to all the people that came onboard with donations and also Sanitizing and Disinfecting Technologies for helping them and offering their services for free to sanitise the new area they moved in before they started working.
“Our thanks also goes to Pick n Pay Mulbarton which has been a partner in this project from the word go.”
