Recycling depot moves into residential suburb
"Do we have to contend with this on our doorstep?" ask Linmeyer residents.
LINMEYER: Residents in Linmeyer have noticed that the trolley men who collect rubbish from dustbins have a “recycling depot” on their doorstep!
“When we took a walk in the veld at the bottom of Sophie Street, we couldn’t believe how much rubbish has accumulated. There are huge piles of plastic bottles, glass and refuse all over the place. We also suspect the trolley men have moved in and live here.

“We are also concerned trees are being cut down and the wood being sold for firewood. This is a natural environment which, in the past, has been home to lots of bird life as well as meerkat,” they said.
The scout hut at the bottom of Sophie Street was recently burnt down. “The only way it could have been burnt was by either vandals or the trolley men. We don’t know who we can address our concerns to but if this carries on it will become a health hazard too,” a resident of Sophie Street said.
The CHRONICLE went along to investigate and there is evidence of people living in the trees as well as the piles of rubbish, reported.
