Cotlands contributes to saving the planet

Director of Child Care at Cotlands is set to bring a wealth of knowledge and experience on ways to contribute to a greener planet at the children’s home.

JOHANNESBURG SOUTH – The guest speaker at the upcoming SOJO Green Business Platform meeting to be held at Cotlands Children’s Home in Turffontein has been announced to be Jackie Schoeman, who has been the Director of Child Care at Cotlands since 1998.

Schoeman will be speaking on the evolution of Cotlands and its efforts to go green and she will share ways in which businesses can contribute to a greener planet by supporting the children’s charity.

The focus will also be on toys made from recycled material and how Cotlands empowers children and their parents from everyday items that we often throw away.

Another speaker at the meeting will be CEO of Noah Sustainability, Karen Krakowitzer, who was appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Noah Sustainability Trust (NST) at the start of 2013 after serving as CEO of Noah NPC, a child protection non-profit organisation (NPO) and the sole beneficiary of NST, for nearly four years.

Krakowitzer established the Trust in February of 2012 after recognising the need for transformation of the non-profit sector in response to the changing donor environment. She also possesses a wide range of skills in both development and business and comes from a solid corporate background, having joined Noah NPC following many years in telecommunications.

She completed her B Com (Accounting) Honours degree and subsequently involved herself in numerous management and development courses and programmes. Krakowitzer, although a generalist, has a proven track record as a dynamic project/programme manager and facilitator. She has contributed to strategy formulation and implementation, launched and managed products and brands, redesigned divisions, reviewed systems and processes, and lead and mentored successful teams.

Also, she is a member of the LINC children’s sector Fellowship, the Institute of Directors and the CGF Research Institute (Pty) Ltd. At present she is freelancing as an independent practitioner focusing on sustainability of the NPO sector, Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment, socio-economic development and organisational development.

The Green Business Platform meeting will be held at Cotlands offices on 134 Stanton Street in Turffontein February 7 at 07:30 for 08:00.

The cost per person will be R50 payable at the entrance and includes a light breakfast. Should you be interested, RSVP at SOJO Office or contact Nicky Vakaloudis on 011 493 7880 or email info@sojo.co.za
