Power station explodes in Alan Manor

The Power Station on the corner of Columbine Avenue and Lark Street, Alan Manor exploded on Sunday evening at 18:40.

ALAN MANOR – At the time of the explosion there was thunder and lightning activity in the area.

According to an Alan Manor resident who lives in a housing complex in Lark Street, she said, “We think the lightning we had at that time may have been the final reason, because when we were having a braai earlier this afternoon, we heard a ‘rumbling sound’ like three Boeings warming up and saw clouds of smoke above the substation.”
