Stop Hunger Now gets support at the Glen

On Saturday February 14 volunteers from Stop Hunger Now set up a meal packaging area in the Food Court at The Glen Shopping Centre, where the packing nutritious meals would take place.

OAKDENE – Community members flocked to the stands and each of them was put into groups to assist with different jobs in the packing system.

“The meals are highly nutritious and comprise of rice, soya, dehydrated vegetable mix  and a fortification pack of 23 essential minerals and vitamins specifically formulated to combat nutrition (complying with the UNICEF standard),” said volunteer Dawn Troskie.

Three of the SA Lions team, Ricky Schroeder, Rohan Janse van Rensburg and Selom Gavor, also volunteered their help and got stuck in, packing the ingredients.

Four learners from Roosevelt High School in Joburg North also volunteered their assistance.

Apart from the good work which was done, the day proved fun .
