OCTOBER 17 was World Trauma Day and two crèches from Mulbarton, Genesis Educare and Cuddle Inn Nursery, were invited to attend the celebrations at Netcare Mulbarton Hospital last Wednesday.
WATCH:
It was a fun morning indeed and as well as hospital staff being involved in educating the children about first aid, CPR demonstrations and how to avoid having an accident, the children were fascinated with snakes which Ashton Menezes brought from Snake Wise. Ashton spoke about snakes to the little ones, what they eat and how to take care of them, and some of the children got the chance to stroke the snake he was showing.

Emergency services were also in attendance, with the fire engine proving a winner. Mondeor SAPS members handed out scarves, which the children tied around their heads.
WATCH:
Miss Trauma 2017 popped in to say hello and a clown kept the children entertained with his funny antics.

“The children have enjoyed a great morning here,” said Clare Keeler, principal of Genesis Educare. “Thank you to Mulbarton Hospital for inviting us.”

“Trauma is no accident. It can be easily prevented by staying alert,” said Sister Preshcilla from the hospital. “Teaching the children basic prevention against accidents is very important and could help save a life.”
