HARTFORD College opened its doors on January 14, 2009, as a small school offering affordable private school education has grown so much in education excellence over the years.
Since 2009, the school has always had a strong environmental focus, as it also borders onto the Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve in Mondeor.
Hartford College principal Nicola Forbes said children spend many years at school, therefore it was essential they enjoy the time they spend with the college during these crucial formative years.
“The school decided to theme the 10th year celebration with each class adopting a cause that is close to their heart and demonstrating their opinions and wishes for the healing of our planet,” she said.

“I could not wish for a better day, it made my heart happy to see the children expressing their hopes for the healing of our earth. I am overjoyed.”
As part of the celebrations, director of the Miss Earth South Africa programme Ella Bella Leite inspired children through a talk about her time as an ambassador for our planet and motivating young people to be passionate and get involved in being the solutions to environmental issues.
Ten white doves were released by the children, with good wishes for the earth and its future.

The celebrations were concluded with children being served hot chocolate and marshmallows while Grade Four to Grade Seven classes brought muffins for the school to enjoy.
