67 Minutes for Mandela supporting survivors of rape and abuse

THE Epic Foundation has called on the community to contribute toiletry donations towards their 67 minutes for Mandela comfort pack project to support survivors of rape and abuse.

For several years, Mandela’s birthday has been marked through the 67 minutes initiative where South Africans are urged to devote 67 minutes of the day to serving the community or for social benefit.

As Nelson Mandela was famously quoted saying, “What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.”

The Comfort Pack project will include toiletries for women, men and children (boys and girls) including facecloth and soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, body lotion, deodorant, tissues, wet wipes, towels, bottled water, sweets and chips, colouring books and crayons, soft toys, shampoo, hairbrush, hair elastics and clips, lip balm, notebooks and pens, surgical gloves and plasters and under wares.

The community can get involved in 67 minutes for Mandela by putting out bins in their offices for collection of required items.

Organisations and individuals will also arrange a packaging day at the office with which donated items will be collected.
