Cocktails for Change charity event
“Nothing is more empowering than serving others. You get far more in return than you give.”
TANDI Potgieter, local Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa 2018 finalist from the Eye of Africa, hosted a fabulous Cocktails for Change charity event on September 13 at Life Grand Café in Mall of the South. It was in aid of the charity Women4Women which was founded by Cindy Nell, former Miss South Africa and entrepreneur.
“It is such an honour to be raising funds for such an important initiative,” said Tandi, owner of Icarus Media, founder of Empowering You SA and Brand Ambassador for Mall of the South and SOJO Business and Tourism.
“I am passionate about empowering women and helping them fulfil their potential. That is why Women4Women resonates so deeply with me. It is important that we as women do all we can to empower and uplift each other.”

The event was supported by local women as well as celebrities from all over Gauteng, including Ward 23 Councillor Sarah Wissler. Life Grand Café served delicious canapes and Bacardi sponsored a Bacardi Chill lounge with cocktails.
The MC for the evening was beautiful TV presenter and SAFTA nominee, Chanley Wong.
LeAnne Dlamini, singer, songwriter and founder of #End Girl Hate gave a moving talk, “Women need to support other women. Let’s be Women for Women.” Guest speakers, Mpoomy Ledwaba (entrepreneur, speaker and social influencer) as well as Candice Robbertze (Mrs SA Charity 2018 and entrepreneur), gave empowering talks.
Guests enjoyed a Catrice make-up masterclass by make-up artist Evangelique Adams and a fascinating anti-ageing talk by Dr Lilliana Marucci (Mrs South Africa second princess 2017) from Skin Renewal.
Tandi Potgieter challenged guests to get more involved in their communities.
“Nothing is more empowering than serving others. You get far more in return than you give. It doesn’t matter how much you are doing, as long as you are doing something to make a difference,” she said passionately.
“I leave this thought with you, #WhatAreYouDoingForYourCommunit?”
Tandi and her fellow Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa finalists then modelled in a fashion show featuring the celebrated and gorgeous designs from Willet Designs Couture.
Other prominent guests who supported the Women4Women charity event were Boipelo Mashishi (Miss Ekurhuleni 2018), Lure Delport (Apprentesses SA 2018), Nancy Rebelo (Miss Earth 2006), Cathy Heaton (runner-up Mrs South Africa 2015), Mampa Sekoba (Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa finalist 2015), Sandra Larkin (award-winning interior designer) and Rebecca Munyuki from Rebecca Talks.
