While on patrol, JMPD K9 officers stopped a suspicious-looking Audi A1 with two occupants in Booysens, Ophirton, on October 5.
Officers checked the vehicle and realised the vehicle’s identification has been tampered with. When checking the data dots, officers discovered the vehicle was hijacked in Midrand in 2019.
Xolani Fihla, JMPD spokesperson, said 40 Mandrax tablets were also found inside the vehicle.
“Two male suspects, a father and son, were arrested for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and possession of drugs. The suspects were detained at Booysens SAPS and the vehicle was booked in at Aeroton Viss,” he said.
