Remember your loved ones at a tree-lighting ceremony

Celebrations will start at 5.30 pm with entertainment and traditional Carols by Candelight.

For the second year in a row, Stepping Stone Hospice will host a tree-lighting ceremony to honour those who are no longer with us as we approach year-end festivities and Christmas celebrations.

It’s a ceremony that can be seen as a beacon of hope, strength and a celebration of life and will be hosted at Reading Country Club in New Redruth, Alberton, on December 4.

Not only is it a perfect opportunity to enjoy a picnic under starry skies with family and loved ones – you can now add your remembrance globe in celebration of your loved one at only R100.

You can also rest assured that the funds raised ensure that hope, comfort and support continue to be provided for Stepping Stone Hospice patients and families on the journey of life-limiting illnesses.

By purchasing a Remembrance Globe, you will be offered the opportunity to write a dedicated message to your loved one which will be posted on a special Tree of Lights page on the Stepping Stone Hospice website. You can then view and share your dedicated messages with friends, family and colleagues on your favourite social media platform.

You are also invited to attend the tree-lighting ceremony on December 4 at Reading Country Club where a beautiful tree has been selected to carry messages of hope and celebration for December. There will be no entrance fee to the event.

Celebrations will start at 5.30pm with entertainment and traditional Carols by Candelight. Pancakes, boerie rolls, some popcorn and drinks will be on sale.

The actual lighting of the tree will take place at 7.45pm (weather permitting) when hundreds of globes light up with a soft radiance. The tree will shine throughout December. The Tree of Light and dedications page on the website has already gone live on October 25 and will only be removed on January 25.

To purchase your globe and submit your dedicated message, contact hospice’s marketing and fund-raising manager, Marietjie Tame, on 082 337 5713 or at marietjie@steppingstonehospice.co.za

Alternatively, you can visit the hospice’s website: www.steppingstonehospice.co.za and click on the Tree of Light page where you can purchase a globe on a safe online platform.

Globes can be bought at the event as well.
