Academy hosts anti-trafficking and rape defence workshop
Teenagers are invited to attend a workshop that is focused on human trafficking, gender-based violence and rape.
Bassonia’s Elite Defence Academy and Icon Combat and Fitness invite teenage girls to attend its anti-trafficking and rape defence workshop on March 27 from 9am to 11am.
The workshop, themed Fight like a girl, will unpack basic rape defence techniques as aspects of defence against physical abuse.
Instructor Dominique Olfsen of Elite Defence Academy said this is to encourage the youth to push back against gender-based violence.
“This is a workshop that uncovers the reality of human trafficking and how we can keep the teens of South Africa safe. It will be focusing on self-awareness and physical elements that can be used as a part of practical self-defence,” she said.
According to Olfsen, teen safety in general is a popular topic, it could also be the dos and don’ts of navigating life as a young adult in South Africa.
Each ticket costs R250 and to purchase in bulk one ticket will cost you R220.
