Power restored in the South following Robertsham substation fire
All the areas in the south that were affected by the fire at Robertsham substation have just been restored.
City Power technicians managed to liven up the last of the four feeder-boards which were affected by the fire on Monday.
City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena said at this moment, City Power would like to apologise to the residents in south Joburg who were inconvenienced, some for about 48hrs without electricity, due to the fire.
City Power hopes to restore power by the end of Wednesday
“We thank the women and men within City Power and contractors who worked hard, some spending sleepless nights to ensure the residents get electricity as quickly as possible.”
“The team managed to restore some of the areas 12hrs after the fire plunged the area into darkness,” he said.
City Power appreciates the hard work and bravery of the Joburg Emergency Services who assisted to put the fire under control and eventually putting it off.

The team is monitoring the localised faults which may have happened during the outage.
“We, therefore, urge those customers who may not have electricity to log a call so that technicians can be sent through to attend to it,” added Magena.
