Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic School celebrate their first matric group

The RECORD spoke to two of the matrics to find out what is their feelings are about being back to school on a full-time basis.

Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Catholic School in Liefde-en-Vrede has welcomed the beginning of the new school year with a special assembly on Wednesday, January 12 by handing over special jackets to the school’s first matric group.

The school started in 2011 with only grade RR to Grade One classes being offered.

Debbie Auby, the executive head for the school said, “When the school started about 12 years ago we only had Grade RR’s, Grade R’s and Grade Ones. Every year we added another grade and currently, we are from grade RR to Grade 12.”

Tshego Khatle said “I’m excited for my matric year. It’s a very important year and I’m looking forward to the sports and cultural activities for the year.”

Auby further said, “Apart from the long break during the start of Covid-19 lockdown and a few short breaks in between there has been minimal delays to teaching. We managed our time well during the pandemic.”

Diya Itehu said, “I’m ready for my last year in school.”

Diya Itehu said “I’m ready for my last year in school. I want to soar and achieve all my goals and dreams to one day make it ‘big’. Anything is possible.”

Tshego Khatle said “I’m excited for my matric year. It’s a very important year and I’m looking forward to the sports and cultural activities for the year.”
