Tylo wants to inspire entrepreneurs
With more entrepreneurs in the country, jobs will be created.
Tylo Stols (22) from the South of Johannesburg believes education is still the key to success.
He said education is important, especially for the modern youth as the need arises for more entrepreneurs.
“We need to consider entrepreneurship as a viable vocation because the statistics show that we need to create more jobs and entrepreneurs can make that happen,” he said.
This former deputy head boy at Hoërskool President High School matriculated in 2017. He said he always loved and still loves physical science.
“I was always fascinated with building and knowing how things are built, so engineering has always been my first love,” he said.
He then studied for a degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Johannesburg.
“In 2019, I was granted the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Candidate Fellow, which will help guide and mentor me throughout my degree,” said Tylo.
While still pursuing his studies, he founded TyX Holdings (tyx.co.za). This company was then accepted into the Allan Gray Ideation Validation Creation programme.
His company provides digital services to small companies as they always need a presence in the digital space. The services include website design, graphic design, content creation and digital marketing.
“In recent months, I have been one of the 11 people in the country to receive the Allan Gray Founder’s Pitch Award. Additionally, I employ two young South Africans like myself,” he said.
After completing his degree next year, Tylo said he would like to work in the engineering field and provide sustainable jobs to 50 to 200 people.
“We need to create as many jobs as possible and I would also like to advise others to take up entrepreneurship because it is very rewarding, although taxing. I believe you can learn to be successful, also believe in your idea and make sacrifices,” he said.
