Medals galore for the Alberton JKA Club

Alberton JKA Club brings home 56 medals.

The SAJKA Gauteng Regional Championships were recently held at Emirates Indoor Arena (formerly known as Standard Bank Arena).

It ran on eight full mats and over two days under the watchful eyes of more than 200 referees. This is one of the biggest championships in South Africa and there were more than 3 000 entries.

Forty-two members of the Alberton JKA Club were selected to represent Karate Syndicate at the event where they excelled with 41 of them being selected to represent the Gauteng team at the national champs.

In total, the club brought home 56 medals (including 19 gold) all of whom were selected for the Gauteng team with an additional 15 qualifiers being selected for the team. All 41 were awarded their Gauteng colours.

The club moved premises in January from New Redruth to 126 Hennie Alberts Street in Brackenhurst. Classes for all ages are held Monday and Wednesday with special Dinky classes for the little ones (ages four to seven years old).
