Mulbarton restaurant murder case: Postponed for continuation of evidence

Rowland awaits his trial continuation.

Daniel Rowland, accused of murder and drug possession after he was involved in a shooting at Il Camino restaurant in Mulbarton in 2021, appeared for his latest postponement on February 21 in the Booysens Magistrate’s Court.

Rowlands advocate Mohammed Mayet was present at court after missing the last court date in January.

Magistrate Hasina Habib asked that the case be concluded and that the defence get their affairs in order, so the continuation of the trial can commence.

“This is a record of the original proceedings, not an adjournment. The court has heard the testimony of three of the eight witnesses that I warned to be at court. A trial continuation date should be set now,” said Magistrate Habib.

Advocate Mayet acknowledged the delay in his client’s trial.

“I apologise, your worship. I understand the trial needs to continue. I am analysing the transcripts which I will then deliver to you to analyse as well, to make sure all is in order.”

Magistrate Habib and Advocate Mayat agreed that June 18 and 19 will be designated for the continuation of the trial.
