Mondeor pool hall murder case postponed once again

Booysens Magistrate’s Court postpones the case to September 11 as the defense prepares, with the accused out on extended bail.

An 18-year-old is facing a murder charge after allegedly fatally stabbing another teenager, also 18, at the Ballbreakers pool hall in Mondeor on April 5.

The accused appeared in the Booysens Magistrate’s Court for his fourth appearance on September 3.

Magistrate Hassina Habib asked if all investigations had been completed.

“Have investigations concluded, or are we still waiting for the investigating officer?” said Habib.

Prosecuting attorney Mr. Israel explained that the case file could be handed over to the defense attorney for examination.

“Yes, your worship. Investigations are complete according to the investigating officer. The docket can be given to the attorney for him to go through. Unfortunately, he is not in court and says he will collect the documents from me before the end of the day,” said Israel.

Habib expressed the urgency that the files should be collected, as the case has been ongoing with no progress.
The case was immediately postponed to September 11 for the attorney to go through the case file.

“The case will be postponed to September 11 for the defense to examine the case and make sure we are ready to present by next week,” said Magistrate Habib.

The accused’s bail was extended until the next court date.
