Mondeor Sector One CPF holds elective AGM

The newly elected members are committed to making meaningful progress and improving the quality of their communities.

The Mondeor Sector One Crime Forum hosted its AGM to elect its new executive members.

Sector One comprises the suburbs of Bassonia, Glenvista, Glenanda South, Mulbarton and Liefde en Vrede.

The Sector One Mondeor CPF is an integral and active component of these communities, providing invaluable services to residents through its dedicated efforts and collaboration with law enforcement agencies. The CPF plays a crucial role in enhancing the safety and security of all community members.

On the meeting’s agenda was a report by the outgoing chairperson of the sector, the outgoing secretary and the outgoing treasurer. Additionally, the nominations and elections announcement was the basis of the meeting chaired by Mondeor CPF representative Nicholas Naude.

Chairperson Mike Fontes said, “I was re-elected as chairperson of the Mondeor Sector One CPF on January 28, 2020, and shortly after taking office, the first wave of the Covid pandemic hit SA. This was a novelty for the SAPS and us, so the first part of my term was directed at Covid regulation enforcement.”

Mike Fontes, Suzette Grobler, Brian Robertson, Deon Pillay, Lieutenant JJ Bezuidenhoudt, Clr Tyrell Meyers and Nicholas Naude.

Fontes described his first year and a half of his term as a baptism of fire, but the CPF withstood the storms and performed well in crises.

During his time in office, they launched the licence plate recognition cameras (LPR) project, attempted to reduce infrastructure theft and vandalism, combat kidnappings and robberies, and made proactive community policing projects for residents’ benefit.

“This term, I have enjoyed the support of the station commander and other SAPS members at the Mondeor SAPS. It has been a pleasure working with the executive committee, including outgoing secretary Suzette Grobler, outgoing treasurer Deon Pillay and Ward 23 Clr Tyrell Meyers. I thank all the residents, the CPF patrollers, the victim support councillors and members of the security industry. Together, we can do great things,” expressed Fontes.

The elections then took place. Fontes was re-elected as chairperson, Deon Pillay as deputy chairperson, Adell Breedt as secretary, Brian Robertson as deputy secretary, Kavish Makan as treasurer and Fabio Bento as the public relations officer.

The Mondeor SAPS station commander, Lieutenant JJ Bezuidenhoudt, further highlighted: “Congratulations to the newly elected members. Fontes and I have ironed out many stumbling blocks along the way in communities and in the police. The community can be assured that we will work well together.”

The CPF plays a vital role in building safer, more resilient communities. Mondeor Sector One aims to be effective moving forward with continued support from all community members.
