WIN: Local author wants to gift her books to the community

Author, Desire wants her books to educate those who read them.

Desire Mogosoane is a writer from Naturena who recently self-published three books covering different themes.

She hopes to use her writing to inspire people to follow their passions. Her books outline relatable South African themes as well as life lessons that she feels everyone should embrace to help navigate life.

Desire’s writing journey began in 2002 when she wrote for fun. Due to family and work obligations, she did not continue writing but she eventually found her way back to her passion.

She wrote poems and short stories from the time she was young to adulthood. She would eventually compile all her work into three books.

“I had many obligations in terms of family and work but I always had this passion for writing. I also had so much information I wanted to share,” Desire said.

Her first book, The Unspoken Sting Begotten is a fiction novel about a woman who deals with life after an early pregnancy.

Her second book, The Mirror Questions Unpacked is a collection of real-life introspective poems that invite the reader to explore the depths of leadership through the power of poetry. Each poem presents a question that serves as a mirror, reflecting on inner strengths, one’s unique capabilities and an individual’s capacity for growth.

The third book, The Shadow of the Broken Glass follows the exploits of four thieves.

“My books can be a thoughtful and inspiring gift that companies can give to their employees, demonstrating their appreciation and investment in their employees well-being and growth. Schools can give them to their Grade 12 learners as there is valuable life information for young people as it can have a profound impact on their personal growth and preparation for the future, specifically The Mirror Questions Unpacked,” she said.
