WATCH: SOJO Helping Hands Foundation donates vegetables to seniors
The latest gesture of kindness saw vegetables from the community farm donated to Resthaven seniors.

SOJO Helping Hands Foundation in Johannesburg south is making a big difference with its community farm which broke ground in September.
The farm is not just about growing fresh vegetables, it’s also about bringing people together, teaching valuable gardening skills and encouraging healthy eating.
Through the farm, the foundation encourages the community to join in on growing fresh produce like tomatoes, spinach and carrots.

Founder of SOJO Helping Hands Foundation, Nicky Vakaloudis said: “It’s a wonderful opportunity for people to learn how to grow their own food while improving their health by eating what they grow.”
Recently, the farm donated fresh vegetables to the seniors of Resthaven. The elderly residents were overjoyed to receive the vegetables, which included nutritious greens such as rocket, spinach, beans and zucchini.

One resident said, “I am so happy. It’s such a treat to get fresh vegetables from the local farm just around the corner. We are grateful to SOJO Helping Hands for thinking of us.”

The donation brought smiles to residents’ faces and made their day extra special.
The house mother, Agnues Magawu, shared: “We appreciate the foundation for the delicious vegetables. Our staff prepares meals for our residents and it’s great that we can add the fresh produce to the menu as the seniors always need vegetables.”
SOJO Helping Hands Foundation is proud of the positive impact its community farm has had on both the environment and its residents.
“We look forward to continue growing the farm and helping even more people in the community live healthier lives and encourage sustainability,” expressed Vakaloudis.
