Waterstone College matric class of 2025 gets their jackets
A new chapter begins for the class of 2025 as they proudly wear their matric jackets.

The matric learners at Waterstone College received their long-anticipated matric jackets during a special ceremony that left the learners filled with excitement.
The school community made the matric jacket handout an unexpected reveal, with the Grade Eight learners presenting the jackets to their senior peers, symbolising the passing of the torch and the hard work it took to reach this milestone.

The executive head, JC Engelbrecht shared: “I am a proud executive head to witness this moment. These learners have been looking forward to this moment for many years because it is a memorable moment and a tradition at our school – to have the privilege of wearing the jacket throughout their final year.
“As the school’s leadership, we expect them to set the example, grow the traditions and be proud of doing it. We wish them all the best.”

Each jacket, decorated with the school name and mascot, carries a deeper meaning. The mascot with a flame in the background represents the values of Waterstone College of fire, integrity, respect, and excellence.
For many of these learners, the moment marked not just the culmination of their high school journey but a symbol of their resilience and dedication.
Head of the high school, Kerry Bailey added: “It was an exciting day for the Class of 2025, marking one of the key highlights of their matric year. Receiving their matric jackets made the year feel more tangible. The ceremony added to their excitement for the year and reminded them of the milestones yet to be achieved.”
