Kibler Park devastated as fire claims son of late security officer

Just a year after losing officer Stephanus Klopper in the line of duty, the Klopper family now faces the unbearable loss of his son, Teric, in a tragic house fire.

The family of the late Stephanus Albertus Klopper, a Fox Security officer who died in the line of duty last year, has again been struck by tragedy.

A house fire on April 24 claimed the life of his son, Teric Phillips (20).

The blaze destroys the Klopper family home and claims the life of Teric Klopper.

The late Stephanus’ wife, Melanie, and Teric lived in an outbuilding on 46 Rapson Road in Kibler Park. Melanie must now deal with losing her son and her home.

An unconfirmed report said the fire supposedly started after a pet cat knocked over a heater. Melanie suffered minor burns on her hands.

Teric was a bachelor and left behind his mother and brother, Jaco Klopper.

The community came together to support the grieving mother, who has endured unimaginable loss.

The Sharing Kindness Foundation, Resthaven Ministries, and the Directorate Enforcing Older Persons’ Rights have donated food, toiletries and clothes to help the family.

Urgent needs

The family needs essentials like food, cat food, blankets, pillows and clothing. Monetary donations are also accepted to help with overdue utility bills and other expenses.

Volunteers are needed to help remove the debris from the burnt house. Jaco will be on 46 Rapson Road in Kibler Park on May 3 to clear the rubble left behind by the fire.

Those who have the manpower and vehicles for the removal are asked to help.

Funeral details

Teric’s funeral will be on May 8 at 11:00 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church on 23 Plataan Street, Brackenhurst.
