Joburg Water systems recover after supply issues
Pumping improves at Zwartkopjes and Forest Hill systems as Johannesburg Water works to restore supply to affected areas including Yeoville, Glenvista and Oakdene.
Johannesburg Water has confirmed significant progress in the recovery of water systems affected by the recent Rand Water maintenance.
Pumping at the Zwartkopjes system has improved drastically, enabling full-capacity pumping to the Yeoville system since midnight. However, the Yeoville system will require an additional 24 hours to stabilise before water supply is fully restored.
According to Johannesburg Water, Rand Water has also resolved the pumping challenges experienced at the Forest Hill system on Wednesday. Commissioning of the pumps is underway and expected to be completed this morning.
The utility says that water tankers will continue to supply the affected areas until all systems have fully recovered.
The impacted systems and areas include:
Yeoville Reservoir
Forest Hill Tower
Berea Reservoir
Moffat View
Parktown 2 Reservoir
Hector Norris Pump Station
Inner City
Oakdene
Crown Gardens
Glenvista
Glenanda
Johannesburg Water said further updates will be shared as recovery efforts continue.
