WATCH: Sanca Central Rand joins Lesufi’s call for a drug-free Gauteng

In support of the provincial #TswaDaar Anti-Substance Abuse Campaign, Sanca Central Rand led an awareness drive through Rosettenville and surrounding areas to educate the community and encourage rehabilitation.

Heeding the call of Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi for a drug-free society, the South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (Sanca) Central Rand Rosettenville and other stakeholders held a substance abuse awareness campaign on October 21.

The event began at their offices on 11 Ruby Street, Rosettenville, continued along Main Street, Video Town, and Johannesburg Road in La Rochelle and ended at the Wembley Shelter in Turffontein.

Volunteers were armed with their voices and pamphlets bearing the messages: “Don’t give in, get help” and “It’s not too late!”

Community outreach co-ordinator Kgomotso Masikane from the Sanca Central Rand said they gave people needing help with substance use valuable information.

“We are in partnership with the MEC, helping people go to rehab. Everything will take place on October 27, so contact your nearest Sanca to get yourself to rehab. We are spreading the word: Be smart, don’t start. OcSober 365, keep it sober,” she said.
