Joburg residents urged to report fallen trees and check gravesites

City Parks and Zoo warns residents to stay vigilant during heavy rains and strong winds, reporting damaged trees and inspecting graves for safety risks.

Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ) is warning residents to exercise caution during heavy rains and strong winds, as falling branches and trees can pose serious risks to people, vehicles, and property.

To stay safe, residents are advised to avoid parking under trees during or after heavy rainfall, as wet soil and gusty winds may cause branches – or even entire trees – to collapse.

If you notice any damaged or uprooted trees, report them immediately to Joburg Connect at 011 375 5555 or joburgconnect@joburg.org.za

Be sure to provide the physical address, corner streets, and area where the tree has fallen.

Families are also encouraged to inspect their loved ones’ gravesites, as heavy rains may cause flooding, grave subsidence, or collapsed headstones. Any issues should be reported to Azola C Manjati, manager of cemeteries and crematoria, at amanajti@jhbcityparks.com or 011 712 6600/6617.

Include the cemetery name, name of the deceased, section, and grave number when reporting.

Let’s work together to keep Johannesburg safe, green, and sustainable.
