Soweto woman lands life-changing teaching opportunity in South Korea

Nkosi’s Haven resident Mbali Gasa needs R8 000 for her flight to Seoul as the community rallies behind her journey of resilience and hope.

Mbalenhle Gasa, also known as Mbali, is a 31-year-old resident at Nkosi’s Haven in Joburg south. Mbali has been given a life-changing opportunity to teach English in Seoul, South Korea.

This chance represents independence, healing, and a brighter future for the young woman who has overcome challenges.

Mbali, who holds a bachelor’s and honours degree in Psychology from the University of Johannesburg, grew up in Snake Park, a small squatter camp in Soweto.

Mbali needs help covering the R8 000 cost of her flight to Seoul.

Nkosi’s Haven, a home supporting vulnerable boys and girls affected by HIV and GBV, is rallying the community to assist.

Manager Thabo Johnson said, “Any contribution, big or small, can make a difference. Any assistance would be welcomed and would make a great difference. Mbali really deserves it,” said Johnson.
