Box and Braai Showcase highlights community spirit

The Boxing and Braai Showcase proved that sport can bring people together in powerful and positive ways.

Boxing and community spirit took centre stage recently as Group 1 JAC Alberton hosted a lively Boxing and Braai Showcase.

The event brought residents, supporters and boxing fans together for a day of sport, connection and local pride.

The showcase focused on the power of community support. Group 1 JAC Alberton used the event to celebrate boxing and its ability to unite people. Rising heavyweight boxer, JJ Alberts, added to the excitement. Alberts, who trains under Golden Gloves Boxing Promotions, is building momentum in the heavyweight division.

He is set to compete in the Heavy Weight Explosion Tournament at Emperors Palace on May 16. The fight will be livestreamed on SuperSport.

Guests at the Alberton event enjoyed live boxing, good food and a chance to spend time together. Alberts made a memorable entrance and took time to meet and talk with fans.

“JJ embodies the kind of dedication and drive we value,” said George Stegmann of Group 1 JAC Alberton.

“Supporting talent like him is not just about sponsorship. It is about investing in the sport and creating opportunities for communities to come together around something positive.”

Dealer principal, Heili Stegmann, said the event was about more than boxing. “This event was about bringing people together,” she said. “Seeing the turnout and the energy on the day was incredibly rewarding. It shows just how powerful community support can be.”

Many praised the mix of sport and social connection. For Group 1 JAC Alberton, the day showed how local businesses can support athletes while also creating meaningful community experiences.
