Time to take a stand

I must agree with the letter Manny de Gouveia wrote in to the Comaro CHRONICLE (June 25, page 8, How pathetic a nation have we become?)

Our nation has changed and it’s sad to see. I’m also fed-up with our useless police and security industry.

I and my children have unfortunately been in a couple of robberies. Once, my 15-year-old daughter was dragged by her hair around a Spar shop with a 9mm pressed against her head.

I feel sorry for the criminal if I’m around. One tiny slip and he is going to be extremely sorry he is a criminal when I am finished with him. He won’t die, but he will need a wheel chair for the rest of his life.

We have to do something or crime will keep increasing. As you have said, police and security (not to mention the community) are making it easier for the criminals.

But sadly, most people have become far too complacent.

Sick of crime
